Maceió, the heart of the Brazilian Northeast
The land where the sun shines all year round, the country where the waters are warm, the coconut palm trees offer a pleasant coolness and its warm people will welcome you with open arms, in addition to a widespread lively and enthralling atmosphere.
All this is Brazil
Maceió is the beautiful capital of the state of Alagoas, located between Mundaú Lake and the Atlantic Ocean, 630 km north of Salvador and 220 km south of Recife.
The city features heavenly landscapes thanks to some of the most beautiful beaches of the entire Northeast, as Ipioca.
North of the city are the most intriguing natural attractions and the most beautiful beaches, along the way to the natural pools of Maragogi.
Typical of this area are lakes formed up to two kilometers from the sea, with stretches of coral reefs and sandbanks that come to the surface at low tide.
Besides the beaches, the city offers an interesting and vibrant old town and a lively craftsmanship (especially wood carving, embroidery and laces).
The nightlife is also lively and carefree, with a wide choice of venues suitable for any tourist needs.
What most differentiates Maceió to all other Northeastern cities is the gastronomy, of which Maceió is the capital, with a high amount of top class restaurants, offering either Italian, international and regional cuisine.
The climate is typically tropical, hot and humid. The warmest months are December and January, when temperatures can reach 36 degrees. The lowest temperatures, with minimum around 21 degrees are recorded in June and July.
Ipioca, the Caribbean beach in Brazil
Small fishing village, Ipioca is located on the north coast, about 25 km from Maceió. In addition to its long deserted beaches and crystal clear waters, its coastline offers some of the most numerous and beautiful natural pools in the world, formed by the coral reef facing the coast (about 800m).
These amazing natural havens are also reachable by the jangada, the typical raft of Brazilian fishermen, with a triangular sail.
Ipioca beach is characterized by the intense blue water, white sand and a stretch of coconut palms. Everything can be watched from the top of Alto de Ipioca belvedere, maybe sitting comfortably in one of the many restaurants.
Ipioca is the ideal destination for those who love the sea and beautiful nature, but also and especially by those seeking peace and relaxation, accompanied by good music and excellent cuisine. Let yourself be rocked by the tranquility of this amazing beach.
